Demos update.

I've been able to get a few things done on my demos over the last few months.

In October and November, I recorded synthesizer and electric piano at my apartment. This has been an important element in making the songs sound a little more full and professional. I added synth pads to "Lost Cause" and "I Still See You," organs to "Check Once, Check Twice" and "Hello, Old Friend, Hello," and some Rhodes to "Business or Pleasure" and a couple others.

Just over the Christmas Break, I took some time to do some recording at Agassiz Elementary-Secondary school, where I teach. I recorded vocals from a friend, Jenn Lane, and my wife, Rachel Nordstrom. I also had Gord McLeod record some alto saxophone for "Soothe Me." It sounds wonderful.

Other than that, I've just been trying to make the songs a little more pristine before I take them to mixing. There are still a few important parts that need to be recorded:

• I intend to have a few more friends contribute some background vocals and harmonies to "Lightning, then Thunder," "This is the Time," "Hello, Old Friend, Hello," and "Business or Pleasure."
• I intend to have a group of people contribute some shouting to "The People" and "Friday Night."
• I intend to get my uncle to record some acoustic guitar for "Living a Dream."
• I intend to get somebody, somebody, to record the second vocal part on "Living a Dream."
• I intend to have somebody, somebody, record some piano on "Hello, Old Friend, Hello," and "I Still See You."
• I intend to re-record my lead vocals for "Your Strength of Will," Business or Pleasure," "Lost Cause," and "Shiver with Pride."
• I intend to record all my own harmonies for anything that's left.

So there's a lot to do yet. However, I hope to have the entirety of the recording finished by the end of Spring Break at the end of March. Then I can get it all mixed and mastered when I'm in Victoria this summer.

So it's moving at a pretty good pace.
