Last night I played a live show at Echo Island Pub in Harrison Hot Springs. I didn't get any photos taken, which is a shame because it was my first full-length solo show since 2010 or so. It generally went well. Wanna' hear part of it? Yeah, it's pretty rough around the edges, and perhaps deep into the image. However, I think it happens to sound pretty good for someone who's pretty severely out of practice. Here's the only photo I got, which I took not long after I'd started packing up. 
I clearly remember when Madonna released the "Ray of Light" single. The video's pretty fun and the song's good and catchy. Although I can't say I'm a Madonna fan, the song seemed pretty good. Typically shallow and flighty, but a good dance number. I've probably watched a video a dozen times over the years. The guitars at the beginning and during the bridge are mixed perfectly.
Recently the song came on while I was wearing headphones. I had never realized just how guitar-driven the song's overall tone is. It's a really impressive arrangement with at least four guitar tracks that I can hear/identify.
Listen to it on headphones and listen for the guitars. Tonight I played at the jam at Echo Island Pub in Harrison Hot Springs again. I started on bass because I didn't want to think of songs to play. Although I know lots of songs, I don't have many memorized.  I bought the shirt a few days ago. I bought a "Large." It appears too large in the photo. Then they got me to pull my guitar out of the trunk, where I proceeded to humiliate myself. I had never led the "power trio" format before. It was a mess. I wound-up playing songs like "My Best Friend's Girl," "Bad Moon Rising," "With or Without You," and any other songs I could think of that featured simple instrumentation. I usually only remembered the lyrics to disparate portions of unconnected verses.
They even got me to play "Paranoid," which I'd never played before in my life. Barry, on bass, took the vocals and I followed the guitar riff; I learned that I should never play such a thing again. According to reports, I had an enormous grin on my face throughout the song. I just came across this photo of me playing guitar at a friend's wedding. Weird.  Again, I need a better pedalboard.
