Bart Ehrman's blog is a subscriber service that I'd love to subscribe to. Rarely does he post an article without having it behind a paywall. I don't know if he just forgot to make the digital fold for this one, but I appreciated this complete reflection from the fellow. He calls it, "The Religion of a Sixteen-Year-Old." Ehrman writes,
I've considered this myself, but never as clearly as Ehrman does here. I can't think of anything about me that hasn't changed since when I was 16., My music taste has changed; my tolerance has changed; my hobbies and occupations have changed.
And I'm very glad that my attitude towards religion has changed since then. King Crimson's "ProzaKc Blues" is possibly one of their most accessible tracks from their most recent incarnations. I watch the video and can't comprehend how they're putting out so much wonderfully dissonant sounds, with just the four of them on stage. It's amazing stuff. It's tough to make friends as an adult. At least it is for me. I feel as if everybody's too busy, or I'm to busy, to invest in new friendships. Not to mention money—friendships cost money for drinks and babysitters and gasoline. My resources for new friendships are currently pretty thin.
Recently, thanks to Kottke.org, I learned about The Daily Overview, a site that gives you an interesting satellite or 90° photo every day. I've seen a bunch of them before, but I bet I'll be checking the site regularly from here on out.
