My students are currently playing Ayiti: Cost of Life. I wish I was playing the game with them, but I have to make a worksheet about it. It appears to be a good game. At the beginning of their Ayiti experience, a good group of the students were very proud of themselves for killing most of the members of their families. However, they certainly picked up on the rhythm of the game and now compete against one another. Some students are obsessed with finding ways to make money. I can't blame them.

I really want a replica of the apparent Leafs Winter Classic jersey for next year. However, I haven't been able to figure out whose name I'd want on the back. Perhaps Grabovski? Gunnarson? Gardiner? Or should I make it a vintage jersey or something? I have a lot of time to decide. Or I could really screw things up and make this gorgeous vintage-styled jersey into a Miroslav Frycer jersey or something. Yeah, anachronism! I've always wanted to make a Leafs jersey with Gretzky-99 on the back. It'd get people really angry.
In my last post, I mentioned that I'd love to attend The Amaz!ng Meeting sometime. I don't know when I'll get the chance to go there. Until then, I will have to settle with the videos they post online.
Of all the lectures I've watched from last year's TAM, I've probably enjoyed Deirdre Barrett's "Supernormal Stimuli" the most. See how happy they all are? I met PZ when he spoke in Abbotsford a couple of years ago, but I haven't had a chance to meet James Randi. I imagine there would have been some good, civil conversations around that table. My wife might be able to go to The Amaz!ng Meeting, but she'd have to go on her own. I wouldn't be able to go because I have some courses to take at UVic. However, it certainly looks awesome, and it makes me wish I didn't have courses to take. I've always appreciated the way Peter Gabriel's simple lexicon contrasts with the overall warmth of his music. His lyrics aren't "Deep," nor will they win him any songwriting awards. When he mixes his simple lyrics with his music, though, it becomes magical. This performance of "Come Talk to Me" is especially magical. I first heard "Come Talk to Me" when I borrowed a Peter Gabriel live DVD from the band teacher at the school where I used to work. He opened his concert with it and Paula Cole sang backup.
